<p>Grammarly is more than the traditional tools offered by Word or email. It allows users to select editing input based on six business; academic, casual, technical, and general styles.</p>
<p>Grammarly has been available <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammarly">since 2009</a>. 1 It is a sophisticated artificial intelligence system (AI) that has been refined and improved upon over time. It was developed by engineers and linguists who created algorithms to recognize patterns in good writing.</p>
<p>Grammarly states that <a href="https://www.grammarly.com/blog/how-grammarly-uses-ai/#:~:text=Grammarly&#x27;s%20AI%20system%20combines%20machine,even%20paragraphs%20or%20full%20texts.">Grammarly's machine learning system</a> reviews every sentence and finds the correct replacements for any errors. It is cloud-based. There are two versions: a web version and one that integrates with MS Word.</p>

<h2 id="how-grammarly-works"><a aria-hidden="true" tabindex="-1" href="#how-grammarly-works"><span class="icon icon-link"></span></a>How Grammarly works</h2>
<p>Grammarly assigns your document an overall score based on how many errors and issues it finds. The system then walks you through each possible grammatical issue, one by one. The system provides both a brief and a long explanation for each issue.</p>
<p>These explanations include examples of correct grammar. In some cases, the system will suggest alternative wording. However, the system will not force you to make changes. If you aren't satisfied with the suggested adjustments, you can decide to skip them.</p>
<p>A list of alternate spellings is provided, along with an indication of misspellings. The handy <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plagiarism">plagiarism</a> checker will help writers find inadvertently copied content. It will alert you to similar texts found elsewhere and suggest citations that could be used to validate the text.</p>
<p>The synonym checker allows users to select optional words and avoid repetition. In addition, Grammarly provides explanations of suggested changes and information about the type of error you have made.

On the left, you can see the body of a document, the text being checked. There are suggestions on how to fix your spelling and grammar issues on the right. You may accept them or dismiss them.</p>

<p>Also, one of the self-explicatory metrics is that it tells us how easy the text is to read. The principal metric in the section is the "Readability score" which is based on the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flesch%E2%80%93Kincaid_readability_tests">Flesch–Kincaid readability test</a>. 0 points mean the text is super challenging to read, whereas 100 points mean the text is straightforward to read.</p>

<h4 id="clarity"><a aria-hidden="true" tabindex="-1" href="#clarity"><span class="icon icon-link"></span></a>Clarity</h4>
<p>Grammarly will review a piece for awkward or clumsy sentence structure. The blue line highlights any clarity issues. Grammarly also loves to scan sentences using passive voice, which is a clarity issue.</p>
<p>The platform employs ML models to propose rewrites or other fixes. Therefore, these recommendations are not necessarily relevant. You will need to make your judgment. Despite that, many of these recommendations impressed me.</p>

<p>Grammarly evaluates a piece based on the tone and audience you prefer. It highlights purple issues. This report didn't provide me with as much value.</p>
<h4 id="plagiarism"><a aria-hidden="true" tabindex="-1" href="#plagiarism"><span class="icon icon-link"></span></a>Plagiarism</h4>
<p>Grammarly's plagiarism report is my favorite tool. Unfortunately, this tool is only available to premium users. Grammarly scans your writing and scans the Internet to highlight potentially plagiarized content.</p>
<p>This tool is ideal for college students and essayists who are concerned about not citing enough from their sources without proper attribution.
This feature is an excellent tool for academic writers as well. In addition, it's helpful for peer review and checking for accidental plagiarism.</p>
<p>Grammarly's plagiarism detector can also be used if you have written an article but cannot remember where it came from. Writers can find out if they have inadvertently copied text or links from research sources.
It is also possible to check if the freelancer you are working with is providing original content. This detector is also used to detect if someone has plagiarized popular articles on this site. I can then issue DMCA removal requests.</p>

<p>E2EE encrypts the data on the sender's device or system. The message is encrypted on the sender's system and device as it travels to its destination. Therefore, it cannot be read by any internet service provider (ISP), an application service provider, hacker, or other entity.</p>

<p>Many messaging service providers use end-to-end encryption. This approach makes it more difficult for providers to share user data with authorities. It also potentially allows private messaging to those involved in illegal activities.</p>
<p>It sounds excellent and complicated? If we put things more simply, E2EE allows people to communicate privately (as we intend this to be). So in a way, even the messenger can't read your transmissions. Alright, let's see how other messengers provide E2EE.</p>

<p>WhatsApp still uses end-to-end encryption but collects more information than Signal. WhatsApp's encryption does not protect you against this kind of data collection. All that metadata is now shared with Facebook's parent company.</p>
<p>This factor means that sensitive data may still be compromised if your information is stolen from the servers Facebook stores it on. Recent news about a <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2021/apr/06/facebook-breach-data-leak">500 million-user data breach</a> does not inspire confidence in Facebook's data security measures.</p>
<h4 id="signal"><a aria-hidden="true" tabindex="-1" href="#signal"><span class="icon icon-link"></span></a>Signal</h4>
<p>Signal is a mobile and desktop encrypted communications app. This means that users can send text messages or make phone calls or video calls without outsiders or even the platform. Intercepted messages will look like a string with garbled symbols and text.</p>
<p>Signal's software can be downloaded and copied by others. Therefore, Signal's founders want end-to-end encryption, even if it is unnecessary.</p>
<h2 id="secret-chats-in-telegram-are-they-encrypted"><a aria-hidden="true" tabindex="-1" href="#secret-chats-in-telegram-are-they-encrypted"><span class="icon icon-link"></span></a>Secret chats in Telegram: are they encrypted?</h2>
<p>Yes, they are. However, you should know it's not a default behavior. Therefore, the messages you were always sending in Telegram aren't end-to-end encrypted(more details in the following sections). <strong>To enable end-to-end encryption, you should start a secret chat.</strong></p>

<p>All the messengers that provide a possibility to send messages should store them somewhere. Otherwise, if you hold the data on one client(your phone), the other participant might not have access to the information because you can be offline. So, consequently, we should store it somewhere else in the central place that is always online. So, on a server(a remote computer on a cloud).</p>
<h3 id="messengers-store-data-on-servers"><a aria-hidden="true" tabindex="-1" href="#messengers-store-data-on-servers"><span class="icon icon-link"></span></a>Messengers store data on servers</h3>
<p>Since messengers store the information you share on their servers, they can read it. Any other websites and services too. How, then, messengers like Telegram tackle the problem of securing the data you share?</p>
<p>They encrypt it. Messengers still keep data on their side with this method, but they can't read it anymore. Telegram takes the same approach with secret chats. When you create one, Telegram creates encryption keys that can encrypt the data you send. Also, Telegram creates another set of keys for the other participant you message. Thus, both of you can send and read messages, but not anybody else, even Telegram.</p>
<p>It's called end-to-end encryption or E2EE. Telegram states it <a href="https://telegram.org/faq#q-so-how-do-you-encrypt-data">encrypts all the data</a> no matter if it's a secret or a regular chat. It means that even if there is a data leak, it's still a problem to decrypt your messages. With client-to-client encryption(E2EE), only you have the encryption keys, and only you can decrypt data.</p>
<h2 id="telegram-encryption"><a aria-hidden="true" tabindex="-1" href="#telegram-encryption"><span class="icon icon-link"></span></a>Telegram encryption</h2>
<p>So, Telegram uses <a href="https://core.telegram.org/api/end-to-end">server-side encryption</a> for all regular chats. Server-side means it encrypts all the data using its encryption keys. If you use secret chats, Telegram uses client-side encryption on top of server-side encryption. This will display a complete list of contacts whose phone numbers you have saved to the iOS address book. These people can then use Telegram. Finally, press the name of a connection to start chatting.</p>
<p>If you have difficulty finding the person you are looking for, you can try another method. Click on the menu at the top to change the order of your contacts. You can sort contacts by last seen, default, or by name.
Telegram also allows you to search for people by touching the right bar on your screen and typing Search. The contact's name that interests you can then be selected from the list.</p>
<p>As I have already written, you can also do a global search. This means you can search for people not on your contact list. Type your name into the search box and choose the right suggestion from the list.
Suppose you don't see your contacts saved in your address book after following my instructions. In that case, it seems that you haven't granted the application the required permissions.</p>
<p>Click on Configurations at the bottom of Telegram's screen and select Privacy and security> Data settings. Next to Synchronize Contacts in the section Contacts, turn ON the ON switch.</p>

<p>If you don't find the contact you are looking for, you can try a direct search. Type the contact's name in the field Search and select the appropriate result from the suggestions.</p>

<p>Telegram channels are broadcasting platforms for the users, usually big audiences. The same is for groups, where people can share their messages too, not only channel or group administrators. And if you try to join and get "this channel cannot be displayed" error messages, then it seems that this channel was restricted by the Telegram team for users in your country or in many countries.</p>
<h2 id="why-is-that"><a aria-hidden="true" tabindex="-1" href="#why-is-that"><span class="icon icon-link"></span></a>Why is that</h2>
<p>The reasons behind the error are unclear. Telegram doesn't cover this question on <a href="https://telegram.org/faq#groups-and-channels">their FAQ page</a>.</p>

<p>Probably, it's due to sensitive content on the channel, which may be not safe for work. Telegram stays strict behind its rules and it moderates channels and groups for such content.</p>
<p>If a channel seems to be not safe to read, Telegram moderators restrict it from the public. It doesn't mean the channel is banned. It's a visibility restriction. Hence, people in some countries, or, people in general won't be able to see it.</p>
<h2 id="variations-of-the-error"><a aria-hidden="true" tabindex="-1" href="#variations-of-the-error"><span class="icon icon-link"></span></a>Variations of the error</h2>
<p>"this channel cannot be displayed" is a general error and there are some others that mean the same in different contexts. The other possible errors are:</p>
<ul>
<li>"this channel cannot be displayed because it was used to spread...". For instance, iOS is very strict about some types of content(e.g. adult), so it forces Telegram to block it by default. Even if you can find the switch option that we'll discuss later, there's a chance you'll be getting this error. Telegram can't eliminate iOS restrictions, otherwise, they can't be on App Store.</li>
<li>"this group cannot be displayed" - this kind of message is shown if you try to see and join a group that also is restricted from public access. It's almost the same situation as it can be in a usual channel. It means the group isn't safe to view for the general public because its members share such messages(adult content, spam, etc.).</li>
</ul>

<p>There are two ways of doing so. The first option is a switch in the Telegram Desktop app settings. Yes, mobile versions of it don't have one. To find the switch, follow the following steps:</p>

<li>Open your Telegram Desktop app. If you don't have one, go <a href="https://desktop.telegram.org/">here</a> to download it. The installation process is straightforward: install the app, input your phone number, verify it's you on your smartphone(in a mobile Telegram app), you're set.</li>
<li>Press the menu icon, click on "Settings".</li>
<li>Choose "Privacy and Security".</li>
<li>Scroll a bit down, there's the Sensitive content section where you can switch Disable filtering.</li>
<li>After all these steps are done, try to go to the channel or group you've had issues with. If you have the same error, probably you're on iOS or need to try the second step. Try it anyway though.</li>
